What Burns Never Returns
“You will burn and you will burn out; you will be healed and come back again.”
Fyodor Dostoevsky, from The Brothers Karamazov
What Burns Never Returns, a solo exhibition from Glasgow based artist Alan Campbell, features a collection of print work focused on overlays, experiments, test prints, refinement, and curation.
The focus of the exhibition began with the idea of letting go, accepting change, and moving on.
The exhibition has a companion publication "What Burns Never Returns", a 48 page book which is a facsimile copy of one of Alan's sketchbooks that he screen-printed directly into from 2019 until 2022. The publication is printed in a limited edition of 50, each being signed, numbered and embossed.
The title of this show is taken from the title of the third album by Don Caballero, a Pittsburgh-based math rock band released in 1998.
