The Art of Science
We are all natural philosophers. It is human to attempt to describe, understand and explain the world around us, so the artist’s studio is as much a place of research and enquiry as the laboratory.
Drawing on her background in engineering, Alice Strange employs scientific hypotheses, theories, formulae, graphs, tables and texts as elements her work, created as she ponders upon the big questions and tries to make sense of the world.
Alice Strange was born in Scotland and lived in New Zealand and England before moving back to Scotland in 2004. She has degrees in electrical engineering, operations research and art history and has been a member of the Glasgow Print Studio since 2010.
