After visiting his local junkshop for a few years, Duncan became fascinated with the display cabinets - the rare objects frozen in glass cubes of artificial light like insects fossilised in amber. With the owners permission he decided to try and capture the essence of this crystalised treasure with his DSLR camera.
The resulting images create diffused, glowing, surreal stories that translate beautifully into the solid texture of a steel plate intaglio print.
Duncan graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College in Art & Design in 1989 but fell in love with printmaking after completing a weekend etching course at Glasgow Print Studio. He has been living and working in Glasgow for the last 20 years.
