Liz Muir - Connections
Just as many scientists point towards Africa as the 'Cradle of Humankind', many artists have looked to the Earth, its life and our solar system for inspiration. It was whilst watching a popular television programme about the universe that Liz Muir was struck by this and compelled her to create a new series of bold screenprints depicting the planets.
To complement these celestial works, Liz has extended her subject matter to include the wider natural world. Liz has produced a variety of monoprints, collographs, etchings, linocuts and screenprints representing wildlife and portraiture to sit alongside the planetary prints.
“The range of possibilities was endless expressing more than physical life but also ideas stemming from people’s ideologies and interest in the ethereal world.
Creativity is practiced and enjoyed by many people. Architecture is often represented by painters and printmakers alike. As an artist I’m able to connect all these things and many more in original print.”
Liz Muir was born in Glasgow and graduated from the prestigious Glasgow School of Art in 1996. Liz has exhibited widely including at The Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh, The Art Exposure Gallery, Glasgow, Scotland Art, Glasgow, and John Green Fine Art, Glasgow.
