Duncan MacGillivray
Glasgow Print Studio Ground Floor Gallery
Exhibition Runs: 2nd June - 2nd July
Preview: Thursday 1st June, 6-8pm (Trongate 103 First Thursday)
With this new selection of digital artwork prints, Duncan MacGillivray returns to a childhood fascination with all things sci-fi and horror, creating a black microcosmos of neon toy ghosts. Each image has been laser cut so that the series suggests a first issue
set of black postage stamps.
“I had been looking at the French stereo card Diableries of the 1860s and also collecting 1940s/50s ‘pulp’ sci-fi and fantasy magazine artwork. A lifelong admiration of printmakers Piranesi and M.C. Escher helped to inspire the work, as did childhood memories of enjoying ‘glow in the dark’ model kits!”
All the images have been created from the artists' own photography and have been printed at Glasgow Print Studio Digital suite using archive quality pigments and paper.
Duncan has been a member of GPS since 2006, living and working in Glasgow. This is his second Featured Artist show for Glasgow Print Studio.
