Mary T. Johnson

Glasgow Print Studio Ground Floor Gallery
Exhibition Runs: 04 July - 02 August
Preview: 03 July 6-8pm
Mary T. Johnson is a Glasgow-based artist whose work explores the beauty and fragility of the natural world. Originally from the Western Isles, she moved to Glasgow in 1991 as a young single mother to study art, eventually graduating from the Glasgow School of Art’s Printmaking Department in 1999 and completing an M.A. in 2007.
Works from the exhibition may be viewed here.
Johnson's tulip prints are intimate studies of growth, strength, and vulnerability— each one hand-inked à la poupée onto etching plates. These works celebrate the quiet joy of flowers while reflecting on the environmental pressures facing our world. Through her practice, Johnson invites us to pause, look closely, and rediscover wonder.
