John Taylor - Glasgow & Sometimes Further Afield
Glasgow Print Studio First Floor Gallery
Exhibition Runs: 5th August - 18th September
Preview: 4th August (Trongate 103 First Thursday)
In the year in which John Taylor turned eighty years old, Glasgow Print Studio is privileged and honoured to present this exhibition of recent work: Glasgow and Sometimes Further Afield.
The images in this exhibition have been painted over the last ten years. As in any city the architecture is constantly changing; skylines alter, buildings disappear, new structures arise. While it was never the intent, the exhibition has turned out to be a testament to a city in flux, a recording of Glasgow past and present.
As a student John frequented Glasgow's Kelvingrove Art Gallery, and on one occasion he talked to two shipyard workers who, when they came to the gallery, understandably wanted to look at landscapes, sunsets, seascapes. For these two men, and for anyone else who wants a break from the city experience, John has kindly included a few landscapes.
